It has been well known for a long time that Donald J. Trump is a racist and misogynist. The more he and his minions deny those claims, the more they are proving to be true and, in fact, are getting worse. His constant harangue against immigrants has nothing to do with jobs. It has everything to do with race. He and his acolytes just detest the fact that the majority of immigrants coming to this country, legally or illegally, are not White. This is all part of the ‘White replacement theory’ that is so often cited on various conservative media outlets.

Now, Trump and his toadies, are trying to mount an attack against Harris because of her failed immigration policies while she was the current administrations ‘immigration czar.’  This is completely false because 1) she was not the administrations ‘immigration czar’, although she did conduct a number of high level meetings with several Central American leaders to address the root cause issues and 2) the simple fact is that a comprehensive, bi-partisan immigration reform bill was torpedoed by Trump himself, not because he thought it was bad policy, but because he wanted to use immigration as a campaign issue.

My prediction is that the Republicans will lose this fight with Harris. She seems much more willing than Biden to call out Trump each and every time he lies and use facts to refute those lies. She is a former prosecutor after all. The more Trump and the Republicans try to use the immigration issue against Harris, the more vocally she and her team will fire back that it was Trump who killed the bi-partisan immigration bill.

Since Trump really has no vision or well thought out policy positions he is able to articulate to highlight differences between himself and Harris, he has resorted to his usual tactic of personal attacks and childish name calling. He is now attacking Harris’ racial ‘Black credentials,’ if you will, in a ham-fisted, desperate attempt to court the Black vote. This is so far beyond pathetic I’m not sure I can even find an appropriate word for it. It is simply peeling back layer upon layer of the Trump façade to reveal what we all already knew, Trump is a racist, misogynist, sociopath.

Now, with the momentum building behind Harris, Trump and his Congressional court jesters and fools are clearly afraid they have met their match. Listening to Harris these days is different than listening to her four years ago. I think she has found her stride and I believe she will provide a formidable opponent for Trump. I also think she will attack Trump much more aggressively than Biden could or would. The thought of losing an election to a small, smart, woman of color has to be one of Trump’s worst nightmares. Given that, I would be extremely surprised if Trump agreed to debate Harris. I have great confidence she would rip him to shreds. Humiliation on national television is not something Trump is going to risk.

Trump already shot himself in the foot when he selected J.D. Vance as his VP running mate. Vance is extremely unpopular, even in his own party. Trump will continue to show himself to be a racist and misogynist – strike two! He will also show how much of a coward he truly is if he refuses to debate Harris. It doesn’t sound like a winning combination to me.

Which is why, as I pointed out in yesterday’s post, the Republicans are getting desperate and will likely do everything in their power to disrupt this election so that it gets thrown into the House of Representatives. That could very well be their only hope. They will, in the words of Steve Bannon, ‘flood the zone with shit’ come election day with the hope that if they can create enough chaos, the actual results of the popular or electoral vote count won’t matter.

The Founding Fathers have to be spinning in their graves.
