It would be interesting to have the Republicans who are so zealously supporting Trump explain to their children, especially their daughters, how they can continue to back a man who has been convicted of sexual assault. That is a fact. There was a trial when Trump and his attorneys were able to argue their case in front of a jury of ordinary American citizens and they were unable to convince that panel of Trump’s innocence. He was found guilty. Period. Full stop. Unfortunately, it was a civil trial because had it not been, Trump would be in jail!
Trump and his right-wing media toadies and Congressional sycophants try to frame this as ‘political persecution,’ but the fact is, this is the way our justice system works. Joe Biden did not have a thing to do with selecting the jury, selecting the prosecutors or anything else to do with the trial. Trump committed a serious crime, sexual assault, and he was found guilty.
After he was found guilty, he continued to defame his victim, E. Jean Carroll, which resulted in yesterday’s $83.3 million judgment against Trump. Given that Trump claims he is extremely wealthy and was order to pay $5 million in the first trial, most people probably would have just paid the judgment and walked away. However, Trump being Trump, he could not let it go which led to the large judgment he is now facing which is sixteen times greater than the original amount. Now matter how the Republicans try to spin it, this is a self-inflicted wound. No one should feel a bit sorry for Trump because this was all his own doing.
In addition to the sexual assault conviction, a judge in New York has already found Trump, his two sons and the Trump Organization guilty of fraud. Once again, that is just a fact! Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! The only question left on the table is what monetary consequences and sanctions will they face? Once again, I go back to the question, how do these sycophantic Republicans justify to their children their decision to support a man who has been convicted of sexual assault and fraud and is a proven serial liar to be president of the United States?
I’m sure they justify it by claiming these are political persecutions and he is really innocent of these crimes despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Or they go down the path of ‘the justice department is being weaponized’ under the Biden administration to pick on Donald Trump, despite zero evidence to support that argument. (Never mind the fact that Trump has vowed to use the DOJ to wreak vengeance upon his enemies if he is elected.)
Given that these Republican Trump zealots continue to bad-mouth and undermine the justice system in this country, I wonder what would happen if someone close to them such as a child, spouse, etc. were harmed in some way. Would they rely upon this same justice system to prosecute the offender? If it is so biased, why would they even trust it to serve their loved ones? We all know that if they or their loved ones were harmed in any way, they would turn to the justice system to prosecute the perpetrators ‘to the full extent of the law.’ I guess it just doesn’t apply to Trump.
Not to get too technical but Einstein showed that large planets and suns in the universe actually warp the space-time around them. It seems that Trump actually warps the space around himself so that people get sucked into his orbit and if they are unable to escape, they eventually get burned up on re-entry. In the meantime, it clearly affects their thinking and ability to tell fact from fiction. And it apparently allows them to tell these same lies to their children.
