The climate has definitely changed. It is not a hoax despite what the Trump administration would have us believe. We have a new ice age upon us and it is the new reality we are all living in. It is not the ice age that we all studied in school with pictures of woolly mammoths and early humans clad in animal skins carrying rudimentary weapons. The new ice age is one of Indiscriminate Condoned Execution (ICE) with trigger happy, untrained, masked agents clad in body armor randomly shooting American citizens who are exercising First Amendment rights as granted by the U.S. Constitution.
And just like the administration claims that global warming is a hoax despite all the facts to the contrary, they are claiming the ICE agents are fearing for their lives and the shootings are justified despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Kristi Noem immediately starts spouting lies before there is even a credible investigation into the circumstances. The message she is sending to each and every American is that regardless of the situation and the facts, if an ICE agent shoots you, it is your own fault and they have a license to kill – anyone, anytime.
In Noem’s book she relates a story of how she shot her own 14-month-old dog because it was ‘untrainable.” That seems to be exactly what she and her goons have in mind with respect to the American public. People who object to the Gestapo-like tactics of ICE and protest those actions, which again is a protected right under the Constitution, are deemed ‘untrainable’ and subject to being shot.
It is clear to any rational person that the fact that Noem and DHS immediately took over the ‘investigation’ into this incident shows they know they are on the wrong side of the law. It’s like having the mafia investigate a hit that they commissioned. Why is Noem so afraid to let an independent agency do the investigation? Clearly a rhetorical question since we all know the answer. She is very afraid that an impartial and objective investigation could very well find that her agents committed murder.
When George Floyd was killed, there was an investigation. Four officers were indicted and went to trial. Four officers were eventually convicted of various crimes for being involved in the tragic death. The ICE agents who participated in the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti will NEVER have to stand trial. If the evidence is so overwhelming that they acted in self-defense, so be it. If not, they should be held to account. The deaths of Rennee Good and Alex Pretti were tragic. But the mere fact that there will never be an impartial investigation and the entire judicial process will be circumvented is perhaps even more tragic.
There will be funerals for Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Perhaps we should hold a funeral for the Rule of Law because clearly in this new ICE age, it is dead as well. Most of us never thought we would live to see another ICE age, but here we are! Stay safe out there!
