The Grifter in Chief continues his efforts to plunder the U.S. Treasury and enrich himself and his family at the expense of the American taxpayers. Trump and his sons have filed a $10 billion (yes, that is ‘billion’ with a ‘B’) lawsuit against the IRS because an IRS contractor leaked some of Trump’s tax information. It is ironic given that during the assault on government systems by the DOGE hacking cowboys, the confidential information of millions of Americans was comprised and there was not a whimper from the Trump administration about that faux pas. However, now that such a data breach personally affects Trump and his family, it has become an excuse to try to extort money from the same government agency which is part of the Executive Branch under Trump himself.
The Trump’s could have just sued the contractor but the contractor clearly does not have the monetary resources that the U.S. Treasury does so suing the Treasury Department could be much more lucrative. Trump’s legal team knows that it is very unlikely that $10 billion will ever materialize in Trump’s bank account. However, they are very skilled at the fine art of legal extortion and feel that the Treasury Dept might cough up some money just to settle this ridiculous lawsuit. It has worked in the past.
Trump sued ABC over an interview with George Stephanopoulos and rather than engage in extended and costly litigation, they just coughed up $16 million in what can only be termed an extortion payment for Trump. Trump has used this tactic throughout his career. He uses lawsuits as a cudgel against people and businesses who do not have access to the same level of legal resources that Trump has. And now that the DOJ has been turned into his own personal law firm, he has an army of lawyers at his disposal.
Trump recently complained as part of his ongoing assault on Minnesota and its Representative Ilhan Omar that she is corrupt and her net worth has gone from almost zero to $44 million while she has been in office. That figure has already been debunked. However, it is true that Trump’s net worth has almost doubled from $3.9 billion to $7.8 billion just since he has been in office this second term. There is the plunge into cryptocurrency, the licensing deals, the Trump media company and whatever he has been able to extort through lawsuits like the one he just filed against the IRS.
This is not even counting the hundreds of millions of dollars from the sale of seized Venezuelan oil that is parked in bank accounts in Qatar under the control of Trump and not the U.S. Treasury!!!
It is very difficult to understand how people can continue to support this administration when there is so much grift going on in plain sight. Trump and his family are plundering the country at taxpayer expense while people are struggling with rising costs and simply trying to get by. Where is the outrage?
Jack Sparrow, the character from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, was a bit of a scoundrel but still a lovable pirate. Trump, on the other hand, is much more like Blackbeard, an English pirate who terrorized shipping lanes along the American eastern seaboard and was known for his psychological intimidation tactics. Trump continues to use bullying, intimidation and lawsuits to fill the coffers of the Trump bank accounts at the same time he and his family are laughing at the fools who continue to allow it.
