Now that Trump’s media company has gone public and he has paper profits in the billions, at least for now, I started thinking about what might happen if Trump loses the election in November. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Trump’s main objective in running for re-election is to stave off the legal wolves that are nipping at his heels. He doesn’t really care about making American great again. He simply cares about staying out of prison. It is really that simple. He is a desperate man, and his only real defense is to re-occupy the White House and use the levers of government and his loyal minions to thwart all the legal proceedings against him.

That is a great strategy (for him, not America) if he wins but it begs the question of what happens if he loses? There could very well be a recurrence of the Jan. 6th attempted insurrection and violence instigated by some of his followers who will continue to claim the election was rigged if Trump loses. But what will Trump personally do? I made the observation a long time ago that I believe if he believes he is in imminent peril of being convicted and going to prison, he will try to flee the country. I think that is even more true today, particularly if he has a pocketful of cash.

The six-month window on Trump being able to sell the stock he has in Trump Media company will be up at the end of September or so if the Board of Directors doesn’t approve a sale earlier than that. However, even if it is September, that would still give Trump sufficient time to line his pockets with cash by selling off a portion of the shares he owns in his media company prior to the election in November.

When November rolls around, he could very well be in a position to have hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars in his bank account. If he loses the election and whatever subsequent efforts his minions make to try to subvert the election and restore him to power fail, I believe there is an extremely high likelihood that he will flee the country rather than face further legal peril and possible prison time. Someone with billions of dollars and access to private aircraft certainly seems like a flight risk to me.

Where would he go? He would obviously have to go to a country without an extradition treaty with the United States and the first place that comes to mind is Russia. There is no doubt that Putin would roll out the red carpet for him and probably provide him a nice dacha just down the street from another American traitor, Edward Snowden. Maybe he would even let him finally build his Trump hotel in Moscow! I am sure there are many people in the ‘this could never happen’ camp. I would argue those people have not been paying attention. Trump will always put Trump first and if he believes his choices are between going to prison or living in someplace like Russia, make no mistake about what he will choose.

Given that Trump has been exposed to America’s most sensitive intelligence, him fleeing the country to a place like Russia would be a huge blow to the national security of this country. The fact is, Trump does not care. Like I said, Trump is only out for Trump. Period. Full stop. I predicted Trump would never leave office peacefully and that turned out to be true. For the sake of the country, I hope I am wrong with this prediction. Time will tell.
