Make America Great Again!! Well, let’s see. Prices are rising and will continue to do so as more tariffs kick in. The stock market is tanking because Wall Street hates uncertainty and chaos, which is what we have now. The jobless rate is increasing because of the slash and burn tactics being employed by Musk and his merry DOGE band. Trump has successfully managed to offend virtually every ally America has and we are now engaged in trade wars with many of them. He has vowed to shrink the Department of State and close consulates around the world, leaving a giant opening for China to extend its international influence even further. American businesses are afraid to invest because they have no idea what absurd policy directive will erupt from the White House next. Robert Kennedy Jr. is touting Vitamin A as a way to deal with the current measles outbreaks. Linda McMahon, the new Secretary of Education, is working to destroy the department so the already poor education system in the United States will get even worse. Intelligence that would normally flow freely to the United States from our allies will be much more selectively shared because our allies don’t trust Trump or his Director of National Intelligence and Putin apologist, Tulsi Gabbard. And Putin is swilling vodka and dancing in the streets!! Yessirree – Make American Great Again.
Trump, Musk and Vance are like three truant teenagers who have been let loose in a Home Depot after midnight and it is their goal to wreak as much havoc as they can by the time the lights come on in the morning and the store opens for business. It is difficult to see how that can benefit consumers, contractors, employees, or anyone in the community. They are clearly having fun but only satisfying their own warped sense of importance and only benefiting the Lowe’s across the street (which just happens to be owned by Vladimir Putin). There is clearly no strategy, and the law of unintended consequences is taking a huge toll on everyone.
The thing that makes all of this even more frustrating than it already is, is the fact that many of us could see this coming a mile away. People were warned over and over and over about what a second Trump term would look like, and he got voted in anyway. I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone who voted for Trump and is now complaining about anything he is doing. It is your own damned fault for being so gullible and pig-headed that you refused to acknowledge the facts right in front of you.
I swear, the MAGA crowd is like a whole group of people who were seated alongside a railroad track with two trains racing at each other at a high rate of speed. Whenever, someone outside the MAGA world would say, “Look out, there is going to be a train wreck,” the MAGA crowd would just stare at these two trains speeding towards each other and say, “No, there won’t be a wreck. Trump said there wouldn’t be a wreck. Fox News said there wouldn’t be a wreck.”
Minutes later the trains are still speeding towards each and getting closer and closer to each other. Despite more warnings, the MAGA crowd still sits there looking at the tracks and swears that there will be no wreck because Trump said there would be no wreck.
Finally, the trains smash into each other and there is a giant train wreck. Some of the MAGA crowd finally acknowledge that it’s actually a train wreck. Others, the more diehard of the bunch, insist that despite the mangled wreckage and twisted steel strewn over the countryside, it wasn’t really a train wreck. It was just a small incident, and Trump will have the track fixed in no time and it will be better than ever!!
Trump and the MAGA crowd can call it whatever they like but if it looks like a train wreck and it sounds like a train wreck, it is a train wreck. The rest of the world knows it. And it could have all been prevented if there was one ounce of courage left amongst the Republican Party. I guess standing idly by, watching a train wreck, and then claiming its not a train wreck is the new test of loyalty for Republican Congressmen/women.
