Just when you think the Republican freak show cannot get any weirder, a new character shows up who makes Marjorie Taylor Greene and Katie Britt seem like paragons of sanity. Enter Michelle Morrow, the GOP candidate for Superintendent of North Carolina public schools. How this lady is legitimately on the ballot versus being in prison or a mental institution is beyond me (and probably most rational people!).
First of all, she has a history of calling for the execution of prominent Democrats for ‘treason.’ Among those she has named are: Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Hillary Clinton, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and other prominent people such as Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates. She also supported the execution of Barack Obama and then president-elect Joe Biden in 2020.1
So why isn’t this lady locked up? A man in New York was just sentenced to three and a half years in prison for threatening election officials in Arizona! The answer is, “I don’t know.” But wait, there’s more. Michelle Morrow is a registered nurse! I have no idea where this kook works but I’d stay far away from it if I were a Democrat. Interestingly enough, she home schooled her own kids and now wants to run the entire public education system in North Carolina. Of course, we all know what that means. She wants to destroy the public education system as it currently exists.
She believes public schools are now “socialism centers” and “indoctrination centers.” She wants the constitution in North Carolina amended to eliminate the Board of Education which currently sets policies and procedures for public schools. In her preferred model, all those responsibilities would fall to her office which would then be directly accountable to the Republican controlled state legislature.
She is an apparent supporter of QAnon, anti-Muslim, and in 2020 believed there were ten of thousands of Chinese troops in Canada ready to invade the U.S. to help Joe Biden get elected. This is all in addition to the constant flow of comments about executing various and sundry Democrats and other prominent people. This is the person who won the GOP primary and who the GOP is backing to be the Superintendent of Public Instruction in North Carolina.
If this kook gets elected and, given that North Carolina is bright red politically it is quite possible, I can only imagine that next year the standard uniform required of all students will be a tin foil hat to guard against electromagnetic fields, mind reading and mind control emanating from the Deep State. Science will be deemed unnecessary, and a curriculum will be developed by QAnon personnel and evangelical Christians that will rely heavily upon hate, intolerance, and violence against ‘non-believers.’ Sounds like a great place to send your kids to school.
It’s hard to believe that this is all true but unfortunately it is. The GOP freak show just gets more and more bizarre. They are definitely living in an alternate universe filled with Kellyanne Conway’s alternate facts.
