Rather than engage in a diatribe about the current political situation and the pitfalls I see ahead, I’d simply like to acknowledge all of the men and women in uniform and their families who have sacrificed so much for this country – the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I have deep gratitude and respect for all those veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice over the history of this country in support of the ideals and dreams of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The U.S. Constitution is the bedrock upon which this country was founded, and it has, to date, withstood the test of time. We can only hope, in this time of political upheaval and uncertainty, that it continues to endure.
In addition to expressing my profound gratitude, my message to veterans, past and present, alive and dead, is simply this, “If the U.S. Constitution crumbles or is substantially weakened in the upcoming years, my heartfelt apologies to all of you who sacrificed so much to protect and uphold it. You did your job. Any failures will be because, we as citizens, failed to do ours.”
Thank you to all the veterans and their families.
