It is clear that Trump is not only becoming a dictator in America but believes he can dictate terms for the entire world. Power has clearly gone to his head, and his sycophantic supporters are feeding this monster.
Congress has relinquished its Constitutional authority to set tariffs to Trump and what we are seeing now is a petulant child posing as the president who clearly does not understand world trade and economics setting tariffs capriciously with no basis in reality. He most recently assessed a 39% tariff on Switzerland. That is one of the highest tariffs inflicted upon any country. Switzerland? What the hell?
I could produce many different conspiratorial theories as to why Trump did this to Switzerland. Was it because he was dealing with the president of Switzerland, who just happens to be a woman? We know how much Trump deplores strong women. Did he do it just to make her look bad? Or could it be because Switzerland has refused to roll back some of their banking laws that have been enacted in the recent past to make it more difficult for wealthy people to launder and hide money through Swiss banks? Who the hell knows?
Trump has threatened Canada (again!) because Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada will recognize a Palestinian state. Trump fails to recognize that Canada is a sovereign country and can do whatever the hell they want. He (Trump) has also imposed 25% tariffs on India and ‘unspecified penalties’ for buying Russian oil. India is the most populous country on the planet these days so here he is trying to dictate terms to a government that is home to significant percentage of the world’s population.
He has threatened other countries because of their human rights, abortion, and DEI policies. And it’s not just large countries. His ICE goon squad deported some of its detainees to Eswatini, a land locked country in South Africa, causing an outcry from the people there stating they don’t want them. Trump doesn’t care. He genuinely believes he can dictate terms to the entire world.
After former Russian President Medvedev, who is nothing more than a Russian troll these days, made some remarks that incensed Trump, Trump stated that he was repositioning two nuclear submarines in an attempt to look like the world strong man! It was stupid for two reasons. First of all, the nuclear submarines are already well positioned to respond to any nuclear strike by Russia. That is their job! Secondly, why the hell would the President of this country even respond to someone who has absolutely no authority at all in the Russian government? Lunacy.
There are many others who have tried to impose their will upon the world, and it has not ended well for any of them. The Roman Empire. The Ottoman Empire. Genghis Khan. Napolean. Germany (WWI and WWII). Japan. History is replete with examples.
If Trump and his sycophants are successful in rigging the 2026 election so the current spineless, Republican Congress stays in power, Trump will continue down this path of not only becoming a dictator here in America but will be further emboldened to attempt to rule the entire world. The world will only tolerate Trump’s Napoleonic aspirations so long before they collectively fight back.
If there is another major war, the blame will lie squarely at the feet of a gutless Congress and supine Supreme Court who allowed a geriatric sociopath to believe he is not only king of America but king of the world as well. And we will all pay the price.
